Come Taste French Wine

On Friday May 27th the PTO invites you, the parents, teachers and staff of the International School of Boston to the third and final wine-tasting of the year at the Maternelle from 7:00-8:00 pm. We will be assisted by a pro Boston Car Service on call.

Hosted by local Sommelier and ISB alum, Jonah Selaya-Mendez, the evening promises to be an education in fermentation with the rich flavors of the vine presiding at the head of the class.

Admission is $15 per person, and space is limited to a maximum of 20 attendees, but in the interest of academic excellence, we have reserved 6 complementary places for the dedicated teaching staff of the school.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by Wednesday May 18th to email address.

Lange Twins Winery and Vineyards

The Lange Twins Winery and Vineyards has one of the most extensive histories of any winery outside of Napa Valley, if not in the whole of California based on the families rich farming history in the Jahant AVA. A 5th generation family owned and operated farm was originally founded by German immigrants in the 1870′s, with the winery finally coming online in 2003. Winemaker David Akiyoshi comes with extensive experience in the business, especially from this time at Mondavi which helps this winery be known as a great choice for a wine gift no matter your price range. The focus of this winery which now produces around seven thousand cases of wine per year is Zinfandel as well as other more consumer known choices such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The family also manages over seven thousand acres of land being cultivated yearly, so you can expect great grapes with which to make wine.

Mount Eden Vineyard

Originally created in the 1940′s by famed wine pioneer Martin Ray (whose original winery still bears his name, despite the families lack of current involvement) Mount Eden has made wine from its foothill location for the past forty years enjoying a long run of successful winemakers including Merry Edwards. Some of the finest cool weather Chardonnay’s and Pinot Noir’s are produced by this estate on a yearly basis, often receiving critical scores in the mid to upper 90 point range during good vintages. Current winemaker Jeff Patterson has largely followed not only the house style (restrained) but also the house philosophy of hands off winemaking which allows one of the best estate vineyards in the world to shine through. For thirty years Patterson has done an outstanding job of steering the ship and this wine club doesn’t expect that to change any time soon which is a very good thing for wine lovers the world over.

My Plans Changed Like Always

My day is not going as planned because of a number of various things that came up. But today was suppose to be my off day from work. Notice, that I said it is suppose to be my off day. However, that was definitely far from the case. My plans for the day, were to wake up and exercise, go buy gourmet coffee online, and do a little grocery shopping. That was pretty much what I had planned. But as you know, things change often. My job ended up calling me because they needed some help with this particular project I was working on. To fill you in on what I do, I manage accounts for a brokerage firm in the city. I handle the books, and keep records about the money flowing in and out of the firm. So I pretty much have a job that carries a lot of responsibility.
